The Kakadu National Park, covers 20,000 square kilometers, and is located 250 kilometers to the east of the city of Darwin.
The Purnululu National Park, situated in Western Australia, in the East Kimberly region, is important from the aboriginal culture viewpoint. The Park was included in the World Heritage List in 2003. The Purnululu National Park is a haven for wildlife lovers and is home to varieties of flora and fauna. The Park also features rare and endangered species like rainbow bee eaters, nailtail and rock wallaby. The major attraction in the Purnululu National Park is the Bungle Bungle Range, which is spread over 45, 000 hectares.
Kata Tjuta National Park is another of the National Parks in Australia which bears testimony to the aboriginal culture of the country. It is spread over an area of 126, 000 hectares and filled with gorges and valleys and is also in the World Heritage list. The Park is attended to by the Aanagus, aboriginals. A major attraction is the Uluru, which is the largest monolith in the world and the the Olgas, a collection of 36 huge rocks.
Some of the other National Parks in Australia that deserve a mention are the Cascade National Park, Booti Booti National Park, Brampton Island National and the Park Conondale National Park.
